GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation. It is a set of regulations designed to protect the privacy and personal data of individuals within the European Union (EU). The GDPR came into effect on May 25, 2018, and applies to any organization that collects and processes personal data of EU citizens, regardless of where the organization is based. The regulation aims to give users greater control over their data and requires organizations to obtain user consent before collecting data, provide access to and deletion of data, ensure data security, and notify users in case of data breaches. Non-compliance with GDPR can result in significant fines and legal consequences.
